Ok, maybe not all Christians - at least not yet. We'll start smaller with the most pernicious Christians of them all - evangelicals. I'm talking about ANYONE who values faith over rationality and especially those who believe in salvation by faith alone.
Look, it's really simple: people who accept what is obviously a silly myth on faith and expect their leaders to make policy decisions based on nonsense simply have no place in enlightened society or in politics. Worship your toxic middle eastern god in caves and bunkers if you must, but leave the rest of us the hell out of it.
Far worse are those who believe in salvation by faith alone. We've all seen what this pernicious belief leads to: the end justifies the means and seemingly no end to the vile filth that pours from the (thankfully shrinking) legions of the deluded in their evil quest to shove their lunacy down our throats. The end justifies the means - this doctrine is the single most salient aspect of "modern" evangelicals. Why behave in a christian manner at all, when baby jesus will automatically forgive even the most greivous of sins? There IS no reason, and the result is evident all around us - evangelicals and their so called leaders spouting misogeny, racism, lies and slander in an attempt to push their dying myth down the throats of their more civilized and enlightened neighbors.
Seriously, if we're going to allow christians to participate in politics - and I think they ought to be on probation if they are allowed the privilege at all - then at the very least let's limit it to those who believe in salvation by works as opposed to faith, or those who believe in predestination. At least folks like this have incentive to behave. The evangelicals sure don't, and it shows.
